Hip, Knee, Ankle and Foot - The Sterling Physiotherapy Practice

Hip | Knee | Ankle and Foot

Hip

The hip is a large, sturdy joint with plenty of soft tissues around it that can easily be strained if not kept in shape.

Some people experience arthritic changes because they under use the available range of movement but, with physiotherapy, can restore movement and function.

Treatments available from the Sterling Physiotherapy Practice for hip problems include: acupuncture for pain, massage, joint connective and soft tissue mobilisation, mobilisations with movement, posture re-education, biomechanical correction/training, specific exercise to speed recovery and maintain/regain strength and fitness levels, balance training (proprioception).

Knee

Knee x-rayThe knee is one of the more complex joints in the body and the list of problems associated with the knee is very long. The knee is the link between hip and ankle, therefore problems above and below the knee can result in knee pain.

It requires a skilled eye to establish where the problems are coming from and knowledge on how to resolve them quickly and efficiently.

Physiotherapy intervention is key in this process.

Treatments available from the Sterling Physiotherapy Practice for knee injuries include: acupuncture for pain, hot and cold therapy, electrotherapy, massage, joint connective and soft tissue mobilisation, mobilisations with movement, posture re-education, taping/strapping, biomechanical correction/training, specific exercise to speed recovery and maintain/regain fitness levels, balance training (proprioception), core stability training.

Ankle and Foot

Foot x-rayAll of your body weight goes through the ankle and foot, so it’s no surprise that a simple injury can be difficult to recover from. With the pressure of modern society many ankle and foot injuries are not fully rehabilitated in terms of range of motion, strength and balance and that is why so many problems recur.

Steve Sterling at Sterling Physiotherapy strongly believes in fully rehabilitating your ankle joint to ensure a long-standing recovery.

Treatments available from the Sterling Physiotherapy Practice for the ankle and foot include: acupuncture for pain, massage, joint connective and soft tissue mobilisation, mobilisations with movement, balance training (proprioception), posture re-education, biomechanical correction/training, specific exercise to speed recovery and maintain/regain fitness levels.

The Sterling Physiotherapy Practice has expanded and now offers a full range of physiotherapy services from the Ashbrooke Sports Club and the Sunderland physiotherapy clinic.
